Shaheed Mushtaque XI beat Shaheed Jewel XI by four wickets to win the Victory Day exhibition match, which took place at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium, yesterday. The traditional cricket match, which first took place in 1972, is organised every year in memory of the Liberation War martyrs Shaheed Abdul Halim Chowdhury Jewel and Shaheed Mushtaque Ahmed.
Shaheed Jewel's Shahriar Nafees, who scored 107, was adjudged player of the match. His century helped his side finish on 229 for 6 in 40 overs. In reply, Shaheed Mushtaque XI rode on Anamul Haque's 95 and Mominul Haque's 44 as they chased down the total with four wickets and 4.1 overs remaining.
