Anurup Aich Successful songwriter
Anurup Aich made his breakthrough in songwriting with the success of songs -- “Dil†and “Dost Dushmon†-- recorded by Ayub Bachchu and James respectively. He cemented his position as a lyricist by penning songs for several other popular singers, including Momtaz and Hasan.
Alongside writing songs, Anurup is also a busy playwright these days. His uncle, the popular magician Jewel Aich, was the earliest source of encouragement and inspiration for his writing.
So far over 30 of his dramas have been aired by different TV channels. He received much acclaim for writing the drama “Reporterâ€, where the title role was played by Mahfuz Ahmed.
Anurup has also written a 100-episode series titled “Geetikarâ€, being directed by Kamal Khan.
“Ek Jiboneâ€, a song written by Anurup Aich and performed by Shubhomita and Shahid, gained much popularity in both West Bengal and Bangladesh. He also worked on songs for the album “Jibon-2â€, by Shubhomita and Shahid.
Asked how much progress the country's music industry has made, Anurup says, “We have a huge collection of songs. The music industry passed through a brief troubling phase, but overcame it to make long strides.â€
He adds that there are still some limitations in the country's music business. The lack of government initiative for formulating a policy to take the country's albums to the international market is part of the constraints, he points out.
Anurup opines that the commercial release of Bangladeshi films in the international arena will also result in more exposure for the country's music.
