Persona Hair and Beauty Ltd yesterday handed over Tk 60,000 to Development Assistance for Backward Society (DABS) for distributing the money as scholarships among 10 physically challenged students of Dhaka University.
Persona Chief Executive Officer Kaniz Almas Khan at a simple ceremony handed over the cheque to DABS Development and Research Project's Director Sukhdev Sana.
Each of the ten student will get Tk 500 a month for the next one year, which will be channeled through DABS, said a press release.
Former adviser to a caretaker government CM Shafi Sami was present at the programme as the chief guest, while Channel 1 General Manager (Programme) Ali Imam and a physically challenged star Mahua Pal were special guests.
At the programme organised by DABS, the speakers said this initiative by Persona is an example and hoped others will come forward to take more of such initiatives.
