50 injured as villagers clash in Habiganj
At least 50 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over establishing supremacy at Korar village in Lakhai upazila of the district yesterday.
Police said the clash was a sequel to a longstanding dispute between UP member Fazlu Mia and former member Jewel Mia over control of the village.
Both groups equipped with lethal weapons attacked each other, leaving 50 people from both sides injured. Of the injured, 25 were admitted to Habiganj Sadar Hospital while the rest given first at the hospital.
Being informed, police rushed to the village and dispersed the clashing groups. Lakhai Upazila Parishad Chairman Rafiq Ahmed and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mir Mahbubur
Rahman also visited the village.
No case was filed was filed with the police station concerned in connection with the incident as of 6:00pm yesterday.
