Road accidents kill 7
At least seven people were killed and 12 others injured in separate road accidents in Mymensingh, Savar, Rajbari and Bagerhat yesterday and on Sunday.
Our correspondent from Mymensingh adds: Two people were killed and eight others injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Mymensingh road at Raymoni village under Trishal upazila in the early hours of yesterday.
Trishal police said the accident occurred when a truck hit a Dhaka-bound rice-laden truck from Sherpur while its driver was changing tyre of a wheel.
One Hridoy, 14, son of late Abdul Halim of Sonatara village under Sadar upazila of Sherpur district and an unidentified person aged about died on the spot. The injured were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
UNB reports: Two people were killed in a road accident in Savar yesterday.
Sirajul Islam, 45, and his daughter Sadiya Islam, 7, were crushed under the wheels of a truck on Nabinagar-Kaliakoir road near Savar Cantonment Board School at about 7:30am.
The accident took place when Sirajul Islam was going to drop his daughter to Cantonment Board School on foot.
On information, police rushed to the spot and seized the truck. The bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
BSS reports: Driver of a Leguna, a locally made vehicle, was killed when the vehicle collided head-on with a truck on the Nabinagar-Kaliakoir highway at 11:00pm in Savar yesterday.
Another UNB report from Rajbari adds: A madrasa student was killed and another injured in a road accident near Moishala bus stand in Pangsha upazila on Sunday morning.
The dead was identified as Kamal Khan, 8, a local madrasa student.
Police and witnesses said the accident occurred at about 11:00am when a sand-laden trolley hit Kamal and his friend Mishu when they were crossing the road, leaving Kamal dead on the spot.
The injured Mishu was admitted to local health complex.
A Bagerhat report says: A man was killed and three others were injured when a private car skidded off the road at Kendua in Mollarhat upazila yesterday.
Police said the accident took place near Kendua Bridge when the driver lost his control over the steering, leaving its three passengers and driver injured.
The injured were rushed to Upazila Health Complex where Ansar Ali, 55, a contractor of Khulna city, succumbed to his injuries.
The body was sent to Bagerhat morgue for autopsy.
The car passengers were going to Gopalganj from Khulna.
