Anti-corruption Theatre Fest in Barisal ends

A two-day Anti-corruption Theatre Festival ended at the Barisal Ashwini Kumar Town Hall on Monday night.
Six plays were staged at the festival, organised by Mobilisation for Alternative Programme (MAP).
MAP executive director, Shuvangkar Chakrabarty, said that they had organised the festival with a view to promoting movements against corruption.
He also said that the festival upheld the spirit of the Liberation War to ensure a corruption-free country.
Yes Natya Dal staged “Shamayer Kotha”; Kheyali Group Theatre staged “Biplober Mrittu Nei”; Pancha Shiri Theatre staged “Bichar Chai”; Barisal Theatre produced “Shironamhin”; Natyam presented “Kadakar”; and Barisal Natak staged “Juddho O Swadhinata” at the festival.
A discussion on 'The role of drama and theatre activists in preventing corruption' was also held in the course of the festival.
Dr. Syed Habibur Rahman, president, Human Rights Alliance, presided over the discussion. Among others, Mintu Bosu, dramatist; Md. Shamsuddin, vice president and Mizanur Rahman Mizan, secretary to Barisal Sangskritik Sangothan Samanya Parishad; Rahima Sultana Kajal, NGO activist; Mofakkar Morshed Khan Chowdhury, programme officer, TIB; and Shuvangkar Chakroborty, spoke at the discussion.
Altaf Hossain, president of Charukala Barisal, handed crests and certificates among the participating teams at the festival.
