The authorities of Benapole port will deploy a group of armed police by the next week to stop theft occurring in the port shed everyday.
Although hundreds of Ansar and other security personnel are guarding the port shed, goods worth several lakhs are being stolen from there everyday, causing huge loss to the importers as well as to the government exchequer.
Several theft cases have been lodged to Benapole Port Police Station but to no avail.
Many traders who use the port expressed their happiness after hearing the authorities' decision.
