Burichong AL enforces hartal

A dawn-to-dusk hartal, called by a section of Burichong upazila unit Awami League (AL) in the upazila, was observed peacefully yesterday.
The hartal was enforced demanding expulsion of upazila unit AL general secretary Sazzad Hossain over murder of BCL upazila unit vice president Sarwar Alam Polash.
All modes of vehicles went off the streets in the upazila headquarters. Educational institutions and shops remained closed during the hartal hours.
Vehicular movement on Comilla-Brahmanpara road remained suspended from 6 am to 3 pm as hartal supporters put barricade on the road.
Leaders and activists of Chhatra League brought out pro-hartal processions in the upazila.
Additional police were deployed at strategic points of the upazila.
Polash was killed in a factional clash due to internal conflict on Monday.
A case was filed, accusing 11 people, including Bhurichong upazila chairman Sazzad Hossain, in this connection.
