Boy abducted, 2 held

A six-year-old baby boy was abducted from New Kalabagan area of the district town yesterday noon.
The victim, Arafat, son of local trader Alamgir Hossain, of the area, is a student of nursery at City Kindergarten. Alamgir said his son remained missing since he went to one Sujon's shop in the area buying a packet of chips at around 12:00pm. The kidnappers demanded Tk 10 lakh as ransom from the family members over mobile phone, said Arafat's mother. Abdul Mannan, officer in-charge at Jhalakathi police station, said they detained shopkeeper Sujon and neighbour Kaniz Fatima for primary interrogation in this regard.
