BSF returns body of youth
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) yesterday returned the body of a Bangladeshi youth following a flag meeting with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
Company Commander of Chanderhat BGB camp Subeder Nizamuddin said that the meeting was held on Boirchuna border under Pirganj upazila and the body was handed over in the evening.
Gonesh Chandra, 26, son of Sharat Chandra of Dastampur village under Pirganj upazila near Boirchuna border early Monday.
After receiving the body, the BGB men handed it over to the Pirganj police who later sent the body to the victim's family at night.
BSF members of Madya Gouripur camp in Uttar Dinajpur district of West Bengal opened fire on a group of Bangladeshi people when they approached the barded wire fence on Boirchuna border around 4.00am Monday leaving Gonesh Chandra dead on the spot.
The others including Ganesh's brother Polash and two associates, however, managed to flee the scene unhurt.
After the shooting, BSF personnel dragged the body into their territory.
At the meeting yesterday, BGB strongly protested the killing, saying that the Indian security force opened fire on the unarmed Bangladeshis violating the international border rules.
BSF, however, claimed that the deceased was a terrorist.
