Infighting kills BCL leader
A local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was killed and five activists were injured in a factional clash at Burichang upazila headquarters yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Sarwar Alam Polash, a leader of BCL Burichang upazila unit and son of Latif Member of Shikarpur village.
Witnesses said, a clash ensued between Rumel group and Kamal group of upazila BCL at noon over establishing supremacy in the area,which left six people, including Polash (Rumel group), injured.
Among the injured, Polash died on the way to Comilla Medical College Hospital. Another injured BCL activist was admitted to the same hospital.
BCL men of Rumel group swooped on the office of the upazila chairman following the killing and ransacked the office.
