Jamaat leader sued for threatening PM's life
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Mujibur Rahman was yesterday sued for "threatening to kill" Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina.
AB Siddiqui, president of Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad, an associate body of AL, filed the case against Mujibur with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka.
After hearing on the case, Metropolitan Magistrate Harun-ur-Rashid recorded the complainant's statement and ordered officer-in-charge of Paltan Police Station to investigate the matter.
“Mujibur Rahman at a rally of the BNP-led 18-party alliance in front of its Naya Paltan central office on November 28 said Hasina had come to power through the path of a caretaker government. If she now trashes it, her life might come to an end,†Siddiqui said in his complaint.
