Police halt protest programme over Bahaddarhat incident

Police yesterday foiled an announced protest programme of pro-BNP Chhatra Dal and Jubo Dal where they were to lay siege to the office of Chittagong Development Authority.
The programme of the two BNP-backed organisations was thwarted in front of the old Bangladesh Bank building which is nearly 200 feet away from the CDA office.
Chittagong city units of Chhatra Dal and Jubo Dal jointly called for the programme in protest of the recent Bahaddarhat flyover collapse and to press home their demand of arresting the culprits responsible for the collapse.
Meanwhile, leaders of BNP Chittagong city unit held a brief rally in front of the police barricade where they demanded that the government take necessary measures against CDA officials.
