Third IO to face court tomorrow
A Dhaka court yesterday summoned the last investigation officer (IO) in the Saudi Embassy official Khalaf Al Ali murder case to share probe findings.
IO Mohammad Obaidul Haque, assistant superintendent of police of Detective Branch (DB), will have to appear before the court tomorrow.
Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 Judge Mohammad Motahar Hossain summoned the IO after completing cross-examination of DB Inspector Azizul Haque, the second IO of the case.
Azizul, in his statement, said he started investigation on the case on March 15.
During his three-month-long investigation, he recorded statements of five witnesses and later handed over the case docket to Obaidul Haque on June 13.
Earlier, the court recorded statements of 31 prosecution witnesses, including complainant of the case.
Of the accused in the case, Mohammad Al Amin, Saiful Islam Mamun, Rafiqul Islam Khokon and Akbar Ali Lalu are now in police custody, while Selim Chowdhury is at large.
Khalaf was shot dead near his Gulshan residence in the capital on March 6 this year.
