Road crashes kill 7
Seven people were killed and five others injured in separate road accidents in Dhaka, Magura, Bogra, Natore and Jhenidah yesterday.
Our staff correspondent reports, a college student died as a bus ran him over at Doyaganj in Jatrabari area of the capital yesterday.
The victim Mamun Hossain Mishu, 22, son of Md Shahjahan, was a student of Shaheed Suhrawardy Govt College at Laxmibazar.
Locals vandalised the bus and caught its driver Abul Kashem.
Police said Mamun fell down from the door of a human hauler as the bus hit the vehicle from behind and, later, the bus crushed him.
Meanwhile, an unidentified motorcyclist died as a bus rammed the motorbike at Banglamotor in the capital around 6:30pm yesterday.
In Magura, a human hauler knocked bicyclist Rupak Kumar Biswas, 48, of Faridpur, on Wapda Square-Langaband in Malainagar of Sreepur around 12:30pm yesterday, killing him instantly.
Meanwhile, a woman was killed and her son and grandson were injured as a human hauler hit their motorbike on Mohammadpur-Babukhali road in Dhuljuri bus stand area of Mohammadpur upazila at around 1:00pm yesterday.
The deceased was Sufia Khatun, 45.
The injured were her son Shariful Islam of Rajbari and grandson Sakhawat Hossain, 11.
In Bogra, motorbike rider Enamul Haque Sofu Pathan, 43, was killed and two co-riders injured as a goods carrying vehicle hit their motorcycle on Dhaka-Bogra highway at Banani in Shahjahanpur upazila yesterday.
The injured were Showkat Ali, 37, and Adir Kumar Shaha, 41.
In Natore, Lehaz Uddin, 57, was killed and another injured as a bus hit a battery-run auto-rickshaw on Natore-Bogra highway in Balowa-Bashowa area of Singra upazila in the district yesterday morning.
The injured auto-rickshaw driver Al-Amin was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital.
Agitating locals blocked the road for around two hours.
In Jhenidah, motorcyclist Nure-Alam Joardar alias Choto Babu, 43, died instantly as a truck ran him over on Dhaka-Khulna highway at Bishoykhali Bazar in sadar upazila yesterday noon.
