Menon wants action against the responsible

Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon yesterday demanded taking action against those responsible for the Saturday's fire at Tazreen Fashions Ltd in Ashulia that killed 111 workers.
“Those who are responsible for the fire incident must be brought to book. Garment workers bring foreign currency to the country. We have to ensure their safety and security,” he told a rally in front of the Jatiya Press Club.
National Garment Workers Federation organised the rally to mourn the deaths in the fire.
Menon also demanded formation of a high-powered committee to investigate the fire incident.
He urged the government and the factory owner to give proper compensation to the families of the deceased and ensure treatment for the injured workers.
Workers Party General Secretary Anisur Rahman Mallick and its Politburo member Fazle Hossain Badsha MP also spoke at the event while National Garment Workers Federation President Amirul Haque Amin was in the chair.
In another rally, Jatiya Samajtanrik Dal leader Shirin Akhter demanded arrest of the owner of Tazreen Fashions.
