PCJSS man shot dead

A youth, reportedly a member of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS), was shot dead in Dhiginala upazila of the district early yesterday.
The victim is Sumanto Chakma, 27, but the details of his identity could not be known immediately.
Informed by locals police recovered the bullet-hit body from Narikelbagan area of the upazila yesterday morning.
An armed gang opened fire on the youth around 01:00am and dumped the body near a waterway of Narikelbagan area, about four kilometers away from the upazila town, police said.
Officer in-charge of Dighinala police station Sahadat Hossain Titu said, they sent the body to Khagrachhari Adhunik Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
Police suspect that the killing might be a sequel to the conflict between regional political parties over establishing supremacy in the area.
Press and information secretary of PCJSS Sajib Chakma claimed that the deceased was their activist.
He blamed the armed cadres of anti-peace accord United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF) for the killing but the press and information secretary of the UPDF Niran Chakma refuted the allegation.
