Two more arrested in capital
Police arrested two more people in the capital's Shah Ali area yesterday in connection with the theft of 11 exotic birds from the Dhaka National Zoo on Monday.
The arrested were identified as Abul Kalam Azad, 24, and Taiyab Ullah, 28.
Acting on a tip off, police arrested the duo from their Nawaber Bagh residences around 1:00pm, said Shah Ali police Sub-Inspector Sabir Uddin Shikder.
With this four persons were arrested in this regard, he said.
The security guard of the zoo and a member of Ansar, who were on their duties during the stealing, were arrested on Wednesday suspecting their involvement in the theft.
Earlier, two security guards were suspended and the Ansar member was closed for their negligence of duties.
Burglars on Monday broke into a cage at Dhaka Zoo in Mirpur and fled with 11 exotic birds.
Of the birds, six were Ring Necked Yellow Parakeets, two Red Lorikeets and three Sulphur-crested Cockatoos.
