Man killed, 10 hurt in Matiranga clash
A man was killed and at least 10 others were injured in a clash between the people of two localities in Suknachhari area under Matiranga upazila on Monday night.
The deceased, identified as Mohammad Ali, 35, and son of Joynal Abadin was a resident of the same area. He was a village doctor and also the general secretary of Suknachhari ward Jubo League.
Of the injured, Nayob Ali, 28, was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital in critical condition while Monir Hossain, 30, Ranu Mia, 50, Joynal Abadin, 24, Mohammad Mafiz, 32, Mohammad Hasam, 32, and Abdul Jalil were admitted to Khagrachhari Adhunik Sadar Hospital.
Police quoting locals said, about 20 to 30 people of Taindang area attacked the locals of adjoining Suknachhari area around 09:00pm of Monday with sharp weapons following a trivial feud.
According to the member of Tabalchhari Union Parishad Mohammad Tajul Islam, a resident of Suknachhari beat up his wife on Sunday night.
Hearing the incident, the woman's elder brothers Kamal and Kabir rushed from Taindang to Suknachhari on Monday evening and attempted to beat up her husband.
As locals resisted them, about 20 to 30 people from Taindang attacked on the Suknachhari people with sharp weapons.
This triggered a fierce clash, leaving one person killed and at least 10 others injured.
