Ban on sale of toxic chemicals used in food demanded

Speakers at a human chain yesterday demanded formulation of a stringent law and its proper implementation to ban the sale of formalin, calcium carbide and other toxic chemicals.
The human chain, organised by Khadde Bish Protirodh Andolon, stretched from Mohammadpur bus stand to Jhigatola in the capital, said a press release.
They said the chemicals cause serious diseases and damage vital human organs including kidney, liver and heart.
