Jubo Dal activist killed in Pabna
A Jubo Dal activist was murdered allegedly by Swechchhasebok League men at Koromza village in Santhia upazila of the district on Tuesday night.
The victim, Md Abdul Hannan, was a member Santhia upazila unit of BNP's youth front.
Police quoted family members as saying that Hannan came under attack while he was returning home at Koromza village from Koromza haat at around 9:30pm.
They said Santhia upazila Swechchhashebok League leader Md Abul Barkat and his associates intercepted Hannan near his house and locked in an altercation with him over toll collection from the haat.
At one stage, Barkat and his men hit Hannan with sharp weapons and left the scene, they added.
Critically injured Hannan was taken to the upazila health complex where succumbed to his injuries soon after admission.
Hanna's wife Mariam Begum filed a case with Santhia Police station yesterday morning, accusing Barkat, organising secretary of the upazila unit of Swechchhashebok League, and nine others.
Santhia upazila Jubo Dal President Abdul Matin said Hannan was murdered as a sequel to a previous conflict with local AL men over toll collection from Koromza haat. He demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the killers.
Meanwhile, unidentified assailants killed Rangpur district Juba Dal leader Rezaul Karim Milon in Pasharipara area of Rangpur city on Monday night.
Milon's wife Jannatul Ferdaus Joly filed a case with Sadar Police Station on Tuesday, accusing seven people of killing her husband.
Police arrested four of the accused on the day while the rest are still at large.
