Three killed in clash over land dispute
At least three people were killed and five others injured in a clash between two rival groups over a piece of disputed land at Satlathibrahmanbaria village in Belkuchi upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased were identified as Samsul Haque Kha, 45, son of Enayet Kha, Alamgir Hossain Khan, 40, son of Akbar Ali Khan and his cousin Syed Ali Khan, 32, son of Sanowar Hossain Khan of the village.
Mizanur Rahman Khan, officer in-charge at Belkuchi police station said there was a longstanding conflict between Samsul and Alamgir over the land at the village.
The supporters of the rivals attacked each other with lethal weapons, killing at least three and injuring five at about 7:00am yesterday, following an altercation over the issue.
Of the injured, two were admitted to Sirajganj Hospital in critical condition, said the OC.
Additional police and Rab personnel have been deployed in the area to avert further trouble, he added.
