Boat race on Madhumati river

A boat race was held on the river Madhumati, at Jhama Bazar area in Mohammadpur upazila of Magura district, on Monday.
Six boats from Magura, Jhenidah, Faridpur and Rajbari took part in the event organised by the Jhama Bazar Committee where several thousand enthusiastic people milled around.
The boat of Golam Kabir from Kalisankar in Mohammadpur upazila captured the first prize while the boat of Jahurul Islam from Lohagara upazila in Narail district came second and the boat of Enamul Haque from Harey-Krishnapur in Mohammadpur upzila bagged the third prize in the race.
With former chairman of Jhama union Mohammad Rezaul Karim Chunnu in the chair, the lawmaker of Magura-2 constituency Advocate Biren Sikder gave away the prizes as the chief guest among the winners.
