At least 12 teachers of a madrasa were injured as a group of students attacked them in Naogaon district town yesterday morning.
The injured are Shahidul Islam, Farhad Hossain, Mostofa Kamal Milon, Abdul Gaffar, Mizanur Rahman, Babar Ali, Abu Saleh, Mahfujur Rahman, Saleh Rahman, Arafat Hossain, Shahidul Islam and Rokonuzzaman.
Quoting the victims, police said that the principal of Namajgarh Gousal Azam Kamil Madrasa brought the lone computer to his own room from the computer department.
When the teachers went to the principal and requested him to return the computer, a group of students beat up the teachers with sticks and iron rods, leaving at least 12 injured.
On information, police rushed to the spot, brought the situation under control and sent the injured to Naogaon Sadar Hospital.
A case was filed in this connection, said Mozammel Haque, officer in-charge at Naogaon Sadar Model police station.
The principal was trying to shut down the technical department of the madrasa, alleged a teacher. However, the exact reason behind the incident could not be known as the principal was not available for his comment.
The OC said they arrested the principal after the incident.
