Nine rescued in Benapole
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued nine people from Putkhali border in Benapole yesterday while they were being trafficked to India.
The BGB personnel also arrested a trafficker, Arif Hossain, in this connection.
Those rescued are Maya Saha, 55, and Gopal Saha, 17, of Madaripur; Biplob Saha, 18, of Gopalganj; Tuhin, 27, and Sheuli, 23, of Jessore; Alauddin, 40, of Habiganj; Kabir Bepari, 25, of Shariatpur; and Jahura Begum, 20, of Mymensingh.
Subedar Ayub Hossain of Putkhali BGB Camp 26 said they launched a drive in the area in the afternoon on secret information and rescued the nine when they were being trafficked to Indian through Putkhali frontier.
Rescued Jahura said Arif took her to Benapole to send her to India promising her better employment.
