Appreciation for Farooki's Television
At least one leading name in Indian film production industry is feeling great that Bangladeshi movie “Television”, directed by Mostafa Sarwar Farooki, has been chosen to be the closing film of Busan International Film Festival in South Korea on October 13.
“Mostafa Sarwar Farooki, a young filmmaker from Bangladesh, closes the festival with his film 'Television'. What a proud moment for all of us,” commented Vikramjit Roy, General Manager of India's state-owned National Film Development Corporation on his Facebook.
“Can't feel happier. Well done Farooqi sahib”, added Roy who was in Busan to attend the festival.
The first Bangladeshi film to be given the honour of being the closing film of Asia's biggest film festival, “Television,” a family-focused movie, will close the festival in line with the new plan by organisers to put more importance on Asian films.
The film touches in a sharp manner on issues like religious views and tradition versus modernisation tussle.
