9 LDP men sent to jail

A Chittagong court sent nine leaders and activists of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), including an upazila chairman to jail yesterday in a case filed for possession of bomb-making materials in last May.
The Chittagong Metropolitan Session Judge's court denied their prayer for bail and sent the nine to jail.
Abdul Jabbar Chowdhury, chairman of Chandanaish Upazila in Chittagong, was among those sent to jail, said court sources.
The court fixed October 8 for next hearing of the case.
A case was lodged against 17 leaders and activists of LDP in connection with possession of bomb-making materials, which were seized from the party's Chittagong office on May 16.
