Schoolboys kidnapped from Dhaka city rescued in Noakhali

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday rescued three schoolboys from Babunagar village in Begumganj upazila of the district.
The three were kidnapped from capital Dhaka on September 18 for ransom.
Assistant Commissioner of Rab-11 Kamrul Islam, who led the drive, said a gang abducted Ashique Mahmud, 12, son of advocate Bhuiyan Alamgir Hossain, Md Amir Hossain, 12, son of Abul Hossain and Md Rafique Hossain, 13, son of Abul Kashem.
All the victims were students of Cambrian School and residents of Court State House in Judge Court area of Dhaka.
The kidnappers took the boys to Babunagar village under Begumganj upazila in the district and phoned the families, demanding Tk 10 lakh as ransom for release of each victim.
The guardians of the boys lodged general diaries and the cases were later transferred to Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-11).
Tracking the mobiles, Rab located the spot and rescued the boys with the help of Begumganj police.
The abductors fled the scene but Abdul Gofran, a former union parishad member, was detained in this connection.
Ashique's father Alamgir Hossain told UNB that some unidentified criminals abducted his son at 9:30am from Mohakhali area in the capital while he was going to school.
He said the kidnappers took Ashique to different places including Pubail in Dhaka and then to Noakhali.
They also demanded Tk 10 lakh as ransom from his family over mobile phone, he said.
