Udichi's biennial convention ends

With the theme “Ushar Duarey Haani Aghat, Amra Anibo Ranga Probhat”, the Dhaka unit of Udichi Shilpi Goshthi held its biennial convention at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), Segunbagicha, in Dhaka.
The two-day event was inaugurated by lyricist and singer Khademul Islam Basunia on September 21. This was the ninth biennial convention of Udichi Dhaka. Sculptor Ferdousi Priyabhashani; Shishir Bhattacharjee, cartoonist and Professor of Drawing and Painting Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, Dhaka University and Habibul Alam, general secretary of Udichi central committee, along with leading cultural personalities, poets, writers and social activists were present at the inaugural session of the convention.
Members of Udichi started the convention with a live rendition of the national anthem. They performed a number of patriotic and folk songs. To mark the convention, a procession was brought out from the venue. Following the rally, a discussion was held at the Dance and Music Auditorium of BSA.
Golam Mohammad Idu, president of Udichi; Professor Ashrafuzzaman Selim, vice-president of Udichi; Habibul Alam, secretary of the organisation, among others, spoke at the session. The new committee of Udichi Shilpi Goshthi (Dhaka Unit) was announced on the day where Kazi Mohammad Shish was appointed president; Amit Ranjan Dey and Anayna Rahman were selected as general secretary and treasurer of a 41-member committee.
