Two women shot in capital
A woman and her niece were shot and injured by unknown criminals following a feud allegedly over drug trading in the capital's Uttarkhan area yesterday.
Bullet-hit Shamsunnahar Champa, 38, and her niece Jui Akhter, 20, were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Champa sustained wounds in her abdomen, leg, finger and right hand while Jui in her right leg.
Md Yunus Ali, officer-in-charge at Uttarkhan Police Station, said two armed criminals banged on the door of Champa's Noapara residence around 7:30am.
As Champa opened the door, the criminals shot her and Jui, he said adding that they were investigating the matter.
Champa told journalists at DMCH that associates of Chunni, a drug trader in Khilgaon area, were involved in the incident.
According to Champa, she got involved in drug trading through Chunni's persuasion about six years back when she lived at Ohab Colony of Basabo area. But, later she left the business that made Chunni angry.
