Syria should lead any actions in it
Bangladesh yesterday said that any action taken in Syria should be led only by the Syrian government through constructive dialogue involving all parties concerned.
Dhaka made the statement during a foreign secretary level meeting on political consultations between Bangladesh and Iran held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran in Tehran.
Bangladesh's Foreign Secretary Mohamed Mijarul Quayes and Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran Seyed Abbas Araghchi led their respective countries at the consultation.
While taking any steps to solve the crisis in Syria, its national sovereignty and integrity must be respected, the foreign secretary said.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister highlighted the urgency of resolving the Syrian crisis as it is crucial for regional stability.
