Road crashes kill 6, injure 29
Six people were killed and twenty-nine others injured in separate road accidents in Dhaka, Brahmanbaria, Chittagong, Sirajganj, Manikganj and Tangail on Thursday and yesterday.
Staff correspondent reports, Shahjahan Sabuz, 65, was killed as a human hauler hit a covered van near Purobi Cinema at Pallabi in the capital yesterday morning.
Shahjahan died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Our Brahmanbaria correspondent says, two people were killed and three others injured as a truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Khetabari in Bijoynagar on Thursday.
One of the deceased is Juru Mia, 30.
The injured were taken to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital.
In Chittagong, rickshaw-van puller Babul, 15, died instantly when a bus crushed him at Tigerpass intersection in the city yesterday.
In another accident, a bus hit a biscuit delivery van in Notun bridge area of the city yesterday, injuring two people.
They were rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
Yet another accident, Md Sahabuddin, 30, was injured as a truck hit a Tomtom at Ali Kadam in Chakaria yesterday.
He was admitted to the CMCH.
In Sirajganj, a coach suddenly caught fire on western approach road of Bangabandhu Bridge in Golchattar area yesterday morning, injuring its 20 passengers, said police.
They were undergoing treatment at local hospitals.
In Manikganj, Nazmul Haque, a Mirpur Bangla College student in the capital, died and two others were injured as their motorbike fell into a roadside ditch at Lawta in Harirampur upazila on Thursday night.
The injured were taken to Harirampur Upazila Health Complex.
UNB from Tangail reports, army member Shamim Chowdhury was killed and another injured as a 'trolley' hit their motorbike on Rabna Bypass road in the town yesterday.
Injured Zakir Hossain, lance corporal, was undergoing treatment at Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka.
