30 injured in Sylhet clash
At least 30 people were injured in a clash between the transport workers and students of a college in the city yesterday.
The clash halted traffic movement on Sylhet-Badaghat road for about two hours.
Police said a student of Suburban Shah Khurram Degree College locked in a heated exchange of words with Ruhul Amin, a tempo driver, in front of the college gate at about 11:00am over a trivial matter.
At one stage, the agitating students of the college gave Ruhul a good beating.
As the news spread, the transport workers of the area attacked the college.
After a while, both the groups attacked each other with brick chips, leaving at least 30 from both sides injured.
On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control, said officer in- charge of Jalalabad police station Gousul Hossain.
