Agitation on to realise 8-point demand
Students of Pabna University of Science and Technology boycotted classes for the fifth consecutive day yesterday to press home their eight-point demand.
The demands include introduction of 'short semester system' for promotion, amendment to present GPA (Grade Point Average) system, cancellation of results published according to the running GPA system, eight years' registration validity instead of present six years, recruitment of experienced teachers, early construction of university campus and end to 'ill-treatment' by the teachers.
The agitating students staged demonstration on the campus in Rajapur area at around noon and blocked Dhaka-Pabna highway for about an hour.
Earlier, they locked all the gates of the academic building and held a rally to press for their demand.
At the programme, Md Baki Billah, convener of the agitation committee of the university, said “We will besiege the office of vice chancellor on Thursday if the demands remain unmet”.
The agitators went on class boycott on July 17 to reatise the demands.
