Class boycott at Rangamati TTC
Students of Technical Training Centre (TTC) in the district yesterday boycotted classes to press home their six-point demand.
The demands include reopening of students' hostel, giving monthly stipend and training allowance, recruitment of adequate teachers, keeping the library open during school period and introduction higher training course.
The agitating students boycotted their classes in the morning and locked all the gates of the academic building during the protest.
At the programme, Supyan Chakma, a student of class ten at TTC, said they were not getting stipend for the last 17 months.
“Our classes do not take place regularly due to shortage of teachers”, said another student, Shimul Chakma.
Later, the protesters withdrew their class boycott following an assurance by Principal AKM Shamsul Islam of taking steps to meet the demands.
We have sent a letter to the higher authorities providing stipend for the students, said the principal.
The centre has only 17 teachers for its 900 students, said sources.
