Ittefaq editor gets bail in defamation case

The High Court yesterday granted anticipatory bail to the daily Ittefaq's Editor Anwar Hossain Manju for four months in a defamation case.
Former Deputy Managing Director of Takaful Islami Insurance Company ASM Nazrul Islam filed the case with a Dhaka court on June 4 against Manju for publishing an advertisement treating him (Nazrul) as absconder in his daily in February last year.
The court issued warrant for his arrest on July 8.
The HC bench of Justice Siddiqur Rahman Miah and Justice KM Kamrul Kader granted the bail after hearing a petition filed by Manju on July 15 seeking bail.
Manju appeared before the HC bench yesterday.
