<i>All because of a 'politically motivated' question</i>

'Politically motivated' question at the second terminal examinations of Khalilpur High School in Sujanagar upazila under the district gave rise to angry demonstration by students, guardians and locals.
The chaotic situation led to cancellation of examinations at the school on Sunday and yesterday.
“Narrate why Hazari Zakir Hossain Chunnu led the union parishad successfully for five years but Shahin Chowdhury became unpopular in a year?” goes the meaning of the question set in Class IX Bangla First Paper examination on Sunday.
Hazari Zakir Hossain Chunnu, former chairman of Najirganj union Parishad, is a leader of upazila unit BNP, while Shahin Chowdhury, present chairman of Sagorkandi union parishad, is a local leader of Awami League.
Finding the 'politically motivated' question, the students became agitated and left the examination hall.
Contacted, Md Abdul Matin, headmaster of the school, said, "Newly appointed teacher Md Golam Mostafa prepared the Bangla First Paper questions. He set the said question mistakenly. We have cancelled the examination concerned. It will be held later."
"Leaders and activists of Awami League and Chhatra League also forced cancellation of the examination at the school today [Monday]," he added.
Hearing the matter, Sujanagar Upazila Education Officer Md Nazrul Islam yesterday visited the school and talked with local leaders, elite and teachers to solve the problem.
"The examinations will be held as per schedule from tomorrow [Tuesday]. We will take step regarding the preparation of the disputed question. A show cause notice has been issued to the accused teacher,” the education officer said.
"Teachers should not set such a disputed question. A committee headed by Upazila Education Officer Md Nazrul Islam has started inquiry into the incident,” Sujanagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer HM Nurul Islam said.
Asked about the matter, teacher Mostafa Kamal said, "I have mistakenly put this question. I have no political intention here."
