Borsha Utshab in Pabna
Songs of the rainy season were performed at the Pabna Press Club premises last Saturday to mark Borsha Utshab (monsoon festival). The event, organised by Pabna Press Club, featured a discussion and cultural programme.
President of Pabna Press Club, Professor Shibojit Nag, chaired the programme. Administrator of Pabna Zila Parishad, Md. Saidul Haque Chunnu; veteran educationist Professor Md. Nurunabi and secretary of Pabna Press Club, Ahmedul Haque Rana, spoke on the occasion.
The speakers focused on the role of Borsha in literature. Of the six seasons, Borsha is unique, they said. Even though the incessant rain and cloudy spells paralyse our lives, the impact of the season on nature fascinates our poets and music composers, they added.
The natural beauty and harsh reality of Borsha are presented in many poems and music, while there is a remarkable influence of Borsha in Bengali literature, the speakers said.
Artistes Shamoli Das, Tonushri, Krishna and Masud Rana performed songs related to Borsha on the occasion.
