No agitation in Ramadan
Urging the opposition activists to prepare for a tougher movement, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday said they would compel the government to restore the caretaker government system after Eid.
“We will not stage any agitation during Ramadan. The chairperson will declare programme after Eid and the government will be forced to meet our demand,” he said while addressing a demonstration at Nayapaltan in the city.
Several thousand leaders, workers and supporters attended the programme.
The BNP leader once again blamed the government's corruption for the cancellation of World Bank fund for Padma bridge and asked the government to disclose all the letters sent by the WB.
He criticised the government for the price hike of essentials and called on people to unite against the government.
Party leaders Moudud Ahmed, MK Anwar, Abdul Moyeen Khan and Rafiqul Islam Mia spoke, among others, with city BNP leader Abdus Salam in the chair.
