3 housewives murdered
Three housewives were murdered in Meherpur, Pabna and Sylhet on Monday and two previous days.
A housewife was stabbed to death allegedly by her husband at Anandabas village in Mujibnagar upazila on Monday morning.
The victim was identified as Bilkis Khatun, wife of Mujibur Rahman of the village, reports UNB.
The officer in-charge (OC) of Mujibnagar police station said, locals saw the body of Bilkis in a bamboo cluster at about 9:00am and informed them.
Later, police recovered the body which bore injury marks and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy.
The OC said Bilkis might have been a victim of the extramarital affair of her husband.
In Pabna, a housewife was murdered allegedly by husband and in-laws at Karatkandi village in Bhangura upazila on Sunday, reports our correspondent.
The victim was identified as Sabina Khatun, 25, wife of Abdus Salam of the village and daughter of Abbas Ali of village Panchdighal in Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj district.
Police said on information they recovered the body from her in-laws house at noon and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy.
In Sylhet, a young housewife was strangled allegedly by her husband at Gorakpur village in Kanaighat upazila early Saturday.
The victim was identified as Tahmina Akter Bilkis, 23, wife of Shamim Ahmad, 28, of the village, reports UNB.
Police said Shamim married Tahmina, daughter of Muhibul Alam of Nayakhel Dakkhin village in Jointapur upazila five years ago.
On the fateful night, Shamim picked up a quarrel with Tahmina over a trivial matter and at one stage strangled her.
Later, he went into hiding locking the room from outside.
