Five killed in road crashes
Five people died in road accidents in Chittagong, Mymensingh and Jhenidah on Tuesday and yesterday.
Our Chittagong correspondent reports, a passenger and the driver of an auto-rickshaw were killed instantly in a head-on collision between the auto-rickshaw and a private car in Bara Uthan area of Patiya upazila yesterday.
The deceased driver was identified as Rahamat Ullah, 32, from Banshkhali upazila while the identity of the other deceased could not be known, said police.
Our Mymensingh correspondent reports, two persons were killed in a road accident on Mymensingh-Tangail road in Montala Boleshwar area of Muktagachha upazila on Tuesday.
The victims were identified as Ahmed Ali Sarker, 75, and Mohiuddin, 45, from Kumargata of the upazila.
A truck hit a motorcycle, leaving its riders Ahmed dead on the spot and Mohiuddin injured critically at around 8:00pm, said police.
Mohiuddin was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where he died yesterday morning.
Our Jhenidah correspondent says, a youth succumbed to his injuries on his way to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital after being run over by a speeding microbus while he was crossing the road at Goriala bus stand on Jhenidah-Jessore high way in Kaligonj upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Monser Ali, 35, from Pukuria village of the upazila.
