Jahanara Imam's anniversaryof death today

Today is the 18th death anniversary of Shaheed Janani Jahanara Imam.
On the occasion, different political parties and socio-cultural organisations will observe the day with various programmes.
On this day in 1994, Jahanara died of cancer at a Michigan hospital in the US at the age of 65.
She was born at Sundarpur village in Murshidabad district in West Bengal on May 3, 1929.
In a message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said she believes proper respect will be shown to Jahanara Imam by completing the trial process.
Jahanara's family was directly involved in liberation war of 1971.
On February 11 in 1992, the Nirmul National Coordination Committee to annihilate the killers and collaborators of 1971 was constituted and Jahanara was elected its convener.
