'Declare Ctg as commercial capital'

Speakers at a discussion yesterday demanded that the government declare Chittagong as the commercial capital of Bangladesh by passing a bill in parliament.
In this regard, all commercial offices, including banks and the office of the director general of Department of Shipping, should be shifted from Dhaka to Chittagong, they said.
Chittagong Metropolitan Shop Owners Association (CMSOA) organised the discussion in the hall room of the Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CMCCI) in the port city, says a press release.
CMSOA Secretary Md Abul Kasem presided over the discussion with Prof Dr Iftekar Uddin Chowdhury as the chief guest.
