Mother of abducted girl assaulted as she files case against accused
Mother of an abducted schoolgirl was assaulted in presence of villagers allegedly by the accused at Etapota village under Mogholhat union in Sadar upazila on Tuesday evening.
Seriously injured, the victim was admitted to Lalminirhat Sadar Hospital.
Quoting a case filed by victim Rupali Begum, 46, wife of Azizar Rahman, police said, she accused 5 people of abduction. The case was filed with Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on 15 May.
The accused are Farid Uddin, 20, Idris Ali, 45, Hossain Ali, 50, Firoza Begum, 40, and Esaton Begum, 25, all residents of Etapota village.
Due to the case filing, the accused picked up Rupali Begum from a road near her residence and assaulted in presence of the villagers on Tuesday.
Local people rescued her and admitted in Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital.
According to the case, Rupali Begum's teen-age daughter, who was a student of class ten at a local school, was abducted on 6 March this year.
OC Jamir Uddin of Lalminirhat Sadar PS said, police were conducting drives to arrest the accused.
Another case must be recorded against the accused for assaulting the plaintiff, the OC said.
