May 31 Clash on Campus

4 expelled by Hajee Danesh university

Four students of Hajee Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) were yesterday expelled temporarily for their involvement in a clash between two groups of students on the campus on May 31.
The expellees are Aninda Dutta, level-2 and semester-2, Raihanul Nabi, level-4 and semester-2, Ratan Ahmed, level-2 and semester-2 of Computer Science and Engineering Faulty, and BBM final year student Nahid Hossain.
Of them, Aninda was expelled for four semesters and fined Tk 5,000, Raihan for three semesters, Ratan for three semesters and Nahid for four semesters
Campus sources said two groups of students clashed while they were playing football on university playground on May 31.
On the following day, the academic council held an emergency meeting with Vice-Chancellor Professor M Afzal Hossain in the chair. The meeting formed a seven-member to investigate the incident.
The committee in its report submitted to the vice-chancellor on Wednesday held the four students responsible for the incident. It urged the university authorities to take action against the four for breach of discipline.
The Disciplinary Committee of HSTU held a meeting yesterday afternoon with VC Prof M Afzal Hossain in the char. On the basis of the probe body's report, the Disciplinary Committee expelled the four students.
