Police yet to nab Bipul's killers

Teachers, students, officials and employees of Hajee Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) formed a human chain on Dinajpur-Dhaka highway at around 11:00am yesterday demanding immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the killers of Fahim Mahfuz Bipul, a final year veterinary student of the university.
Before joining the programme, they took out a procession from the administrative building to mourn the death of Bipul.
A special prayer was offered at the university mosque after Zohr prayers yesterday, seeking salvation of the departed soul.
Fahim Mahfuz Bipul, 23, also the vice-president of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) HSTU unit, was stabbed to death in broad daylight on Saturday by Mrinal Kumar Goswami, a class four employee at library department of the university.
Witnesses said, Mrinal and his accomplices locked in an altercation with Bipul over an issue at a tea stall near the campus at around 1:00pm and at one stage, Mrinal stabbed Bipul in front of people, leaving him critically injured.
Locals rescued Bipul and took him to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital where he died at around 2:40pm.
Dr Boloram Roy, Acting registrar of HSTU, filed a murder case with Dinajpur Police Station on Sunday night, accusing Mrinal and five others unidentified people.
Contacted, Sub-Inspector Md Abdul Mojid, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, said they are raiding different places to arrest Mrinal, the main accused in the case, and others.
