Internet may return to normal today
The internet may regain speed today, as the authorities are looking for alternative ways to route data.
Millions of Bangladeshis have been unable to use the internet or suffered slow connections after the SEA-ME-WE-4 submarine cable was cut off the coast of Singapore.
The alternatives being looked at are Italy, Malaysia, India or France. The SEA-ME-WE-4 is the latest generation of a cable network linking Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Western Europe.
Mir Masud Kabir, managing director of Mango Teleservices, one of the two data distributors of the country, said the problem would be solved today.
Sharifuzzaman, a director at the state-owned BTCL, reiterated the same, blaming the two-day weekend for the delay in solving the crisis.
