Tk 381.15cr budget announced for RCC
Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) yesterday afternoon announced an earning-expenditure balanced budget of around Tk 381.15 crore for 2012-13 fiscal.
RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, who rolled out the annual budget at a press conference at its bhaban, said no new tax has been imposed on the proposed budget.
Liton said the proposed budget for 2011-12 was Tk 342.58 crore, which has been revised at Tk 199.40 crore.
The RCC expects Tk 272.43 crore of the budget from different project grants while the rest amount from various rates and fees and different development assistant grants.
The grants include Tk 194.93 crore from annual development programme, Tk 50 crore from Bangladesh Municipal Development Fund and Tk 8 crore from Urban Partnership for Poverty Reduction project.
On the other, Tk 48.13 crore will be spent for salary and allowances of the city RCC officials and staff and Tk 194.93 crore for uplift purposes.
Referring to bringing transparency and accountability in the uplift programmes, Liton said no works would be kept hidden and everything would be reflected in the next budget.
He said the city corporation has attained a significant success in boosting revenue collection and target has been set to realise revenue worth around Tk 40.94 crore during the 2012-13 fiscal.
Panel mayors, councillors and the officials concerned were present at the press conference.
