Schoolmates and locals yesterday demanded exemplary punishment to the killers of A-level student Himadri Majumder Himu in the port city.
With the demand, students of Summerfield School and College formed a human chain at Prabartak Intersection and brought out a protest procession from the school premises.
Some local youth clubs also formed a human chain in front of Chittagong Press Club demanding punishment to Himu's killers.
Kazi Jahir, sub-inspector (SI) of Panchlaish Police Station and investigation officer (IO) of the case, said police yesterday appealed to a Chittagong court, seeking permission to preserve three dogs as significant clue to the case.
The court ordered police to hand over the dogs to the Chittagong Zoo authorities, he said.
On April 27, Himu, 18, a student of Summerfield School and College, was taken to Farhad Mansion in Panchlaish Residential Area by his friends where they beat him mercilessly, unleashed dogs on him and pushed him down from the fourth floor of the building.
Himu succumbed to his injuries at Square Hospital in Dhaka on May 23.
