Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members on Sunday arrested four persons in the port city in connection with abducting two men on April 27 and rescued the two according to the information of the arrestees.
The arrestees were Mohammed Joni, 25, of Raozan in Chittagong, and Rashed Uddin, 20, Mohammed Anis, 26, and Abdur Rahman, 23, of Chandgaon in Chittagong, says a Rab-7 press release.
The rescued persons were Dipak Chandra Das, 24, and Mohammed Alauddin, 25, hailing from Feni.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rab-7 made a drive at SA Paribahan Courier Service office in Kazir Dewri of the port city when both Joni and Rashed went there to collect the ransom money.
Later, based on their information, the Rab men rescued the abducted men and arrested the other two accused from a telecom shop in front of Azim Garments in Kalurghat industrial area of the port city.
Three more members of the kidnappers' group managed to flee.
